2025 Registration Opens!!! (Very briefly)
Here we go again!
After a wonderfully successful 2024 (except for those that made a wrong turn!) we are coming back to briefly open registration for 2025!
So enjoy your shirts, enjoy your medals, check the results, check the recap of the race and the reviews that are still coming in.
But don’t miss out on the Stupid-Cheap®©™ price of $45! Yes, you read that right:
Once again it is FORTY-FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS!!!
Woo hoooooo!!!!!
Tentative date (subject to permits), is October 12!
That's right: You get the race, the medal, the shirt, the music, the massages, the food, and word-class, can’t be beat, volunteers that would make both Thomas Paine and Norman Rockwell—two of NewRo’s most famous citizens—burst with community pride.
Why sell entries for such a Stupid-Cheap®©™ price? Two reasons!!
1. Those that register a full year in advance do it because they love the race! And that means they’ll tell their friends about it. I’m not shy on this: Word of mouth has always been our best marketing. (Usually, it is our only marketing.) So if you like the race, Please tell people!
2. We know that the best laid plans of mice and runners often skitter astray, and that many of you won't be able to make it. Some will get hurt. Or injured. Or ill. Or pregnant. Or be told there's a wedding for your third cousin twice removed that you're not allowed to miss because your Great Aunt Gerty might be there. But you'd rather do this! Will you make it to the start line? It's legalized gambling!
Want to know how important you are to your friends/relatives with upcoming Nuptials? Ask them to keep this date clear and see how they look at you!
Stupid-Cheap®©™ comes with a big, fat bewhiskered caveat, naturally: As always, there is a no-refund, no-exchange policy. Those no-shows are baked into the Stupid-Cheap®©™ price. So if we gave refunds, or allowed deferrals or exchanges, we would have to raise the price because $45 is literally below our cost. And we would also have track deferrals and transfers from year to year.
Blech. We go with the Keep it Simple theory. Which goes hand-in-hand with Keep it Cheap.
Registration will be open for just three days – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday! Don't. Screw. This. Up.
If you blow this stupid-cheap early registration we will reopen on April 22, Earth Day, at an early-bird rate that's higher. It won’t be Stupid-Cheap®©™! Stupid-cheap remains a big discount off regular cheap!
One last thing before I sign off until April, as I now put my exclamation marks on hold.
Below is a list of tasks our volunteers have performed to put this race on. I may be the face of the race, but I am most definitely not a one-man band. And, perhaps, the list of volunteer functions below will inspire you to think about how to help at a community function if you don’t already. Because community events don’t happen without volunteers.
